About Synaeda Stables

A piece of history

“I love a sleek, elegant horse that walks on its own feet”

“The mother line is influencing breeding”

These are statements that are typical of Anne Oosterbaan from Tzummarum, founder of Stal Synaeda. Since 1979 he has passionately built a strong and elegant breeding line within the Frisian horse breed.

His adventure started with the mare Sytske from lineage 2, a Hearke daughter with phenomenal gaits. Her daughter Deirdre fan Synaeda in turn produced Pyrrha fan Synaeda, crown jewel, model, performance and threefold preferent to her offspring.

In addition to strain 2, Anne also achieved excellent results with strain 25, such as with Jancka fan Synaeda. His fascination with dam lines later brought him to lineage 50, which resulted in the purchase of Gonda FT from Foeke van der Velde. She also showed her worth with, among other things, a crown mare and a first premium star mare among her offspring.

The future of Stal Synaeda

This deep passion for quality and maternal lines lives on.

Meanwhile, daughter Anke and granddaughter Sietske have proudly taken over the reins: the sixth and seventh generations of Oosterbaan family members who are fully committed to successful and future-oriented breeding.

Anke grew up among horses and as a young girl she accompanied her father Anne to inspections and breeding discussions. This tradition continues today: nowadays it is Sietske who enthusiastically accompanies her mother Anke to every inspection and who contributes to the breeding policy. The horse virus runs deep – and is passed on with love.

With the rich genetic foundation that Anne has built up, Anke and Sietske give a contemporary interpretation to the future of Stal Synaeda.

Their vision is clear:

The horses have plenty of space, literally and figuratively. Large boxes, plenty of pasture and attention to welfare ensure that both people and animals enjoy it every day.

The maternal line remains the beating heart of breeding. Every year it is a joy to find a suitable stallion – a careful process full of consultation, studbook study and coordination.

And when such a home-bred horse enters the arena, they know immediately: this is a Fan Synaeda horse.

A horse you can’t ignore. A horse that hits.
